Soft Boudoir: Dreamy, Hazy Self Love

Linen sheets, wavy tousled bed-hair, nothing but a baggy shirt and beautiful light - that's what I think of when I imagine feeling my most calm, effortless and beautiful. A model in a french perfume advert - does that make sense? Are you getting my potentially obscure vision?

Hopefully you will after seeing these images. I tried to take self portraits in this style and it didn't turn out how I envisioned, so when Sophie told me she was up for a little self love session, I couldn't bloody wait.

I want my style of boudoir to feel all of those things - calm, effortless, beautiful - no matter how you look or what size you are. This is about our relationship with self and how we honour our bodies. Our bodies are worthy of love and attention without condition. We've only got one, and it carries us through life. We experience everything with it and through it.

We all have insecurities, every single person, and it is not about ignoring them. It's about seeing them, acknowledging them and loving them anyway. Just like we do with our loved ones. Why are we any different?

I want you to feel as comfortable as possible for our session as I know it can be sensitive. I have a questionnaire to be filled out beforehand so that we are on the same page when it comes to your bod and I'm not putting you on the spot in any way. I also tried out a different technique in this shoot of shooting through tights. Aside from creating a gorgeous romanticism, it added a level of obscurity and softness that may ease a nervous mind about their body being so clear. If this is something that you'd like for your entire shoot, I'd be more than happy to oblige. (Plus it's bloody hazingly beautiful (definitely not a word))

Sophie had some words of her own after her session which I think we can all relate to and pull from.

"The relationship I've had with my own body has always been complex. Sometimes I'm unsure if my treatment of it is to improve myself or punish myself. If it exists for myself or others. Regardless, this body is my vessel in this life and has carried me through 22 years. And deserves a little celebrating for anchoring me here."

And in regards to her session: "I had the loveliest experience with Emily for a little self love shoot. Cannot recommend Emily enough - an absolute angel and made me feel so comfortable."

I hope this has eased your mind about soft boudoir and what it could mean for you. If you'd like to experience a little self love session, I'd love to have you. The button below will take you to my contact form where we can have a pressure-free chat about it all.

Either way, enjoy these dreamy, hazy, are-we-in-Paris images (French accent essential).
